Record-Breaking Month: 53 Million Visit the Two Holy Mosques

MAKKAH: The General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque revealed that more than 53.5 million worshippers and visitors were received at the Two Holy Mosques during the month of Rabi Al-Awwal 1447 AH.

At the Grand Mosque in Makkah, a total of 17.5 million worshippers were recorded, with 91,753 people praying in the sacred Hijr Ismail (Al-Hatim) area. The authority also reported that 12.1 million pilgrims performed Umrah during the same period.

In Madinah, the Prophet’s Mosque welcomed 20.7 million worshippers, including over one million who had the honor of praying in Al-Rawdah Al-Sharifah. Additionally, more than 2 million visitors offered their salutations to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his two Companions (may Allah be pleased with them).

The authority explained that smart technology and sensor-based systems are used at the entrances of both mosques to track visitor numbers with precision. This digital monitoring helps optimize crowd management, streamline pilgrim services, and ensure smooth coordination between various supporting agencies.
