Saudi Film Commission Releases First Annual Report Showcasing Industry Growth

Saudi Arabia’s film industry marked a milestone in 2024 with the release of the Saudi Film Commission’s first and annual report which is sheds light on the Kingdom’s rapid progress and growing global ambitions the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The report highlights how the country’s evolving film sector is gaining momentum through strong initiatives in production support infrastructure developmen talent training and major cultural events. Figures from the report show the impact of national incentive programs, which backed 64 productions and generated more than SR1.08 billion ($288 million) in local spending.

Cinema-going is also on the rise. In 2024, more than 17.5 million tickets were sold across the Kingdom, supported by a growing infrastructure of 64 theatres and 630 screens. The number of production companies grew to 65, with 14 films receiving additional support worth over SR93 million.

Film festivals and industry gatherings drew impressive participation, underscoring a rising enthusiasm for cinema. Over 75,600 people attended events such as the Red Sea International Film Festival, the Saudi Film Festival, and the Gulf Cinema Festival. Additionally, the Saudi Film Confex welcomed nearly 70,000 visitors, resulting in 24 industry agreements valued at SR226 million.
