Saudi Crown Prince and FIFA President Discuss Future Sports Cooperation

RIYADH — Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met with FIFA President Gianni Infantino in Riyadh on Tuesday to explore new areas of cooperation in sports and football development across Saudi Arabia.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, the meeting focused on enhancing the Kingdom’s sports initiatives and expanding opportunities within the global football community.

The discussions were attended by Minister of Sport Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, Minister of Commerce Dr Majid Al-Kassabi, Public Investment Fund Governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan, Royal Court Adviser Abdulaziz Tarabzouni, and Saudi Arabian Football Federation President Yasser Al-Misehal.

Infantino also participated earlier in the day in the ninth edition of the Future Investment Initiative conference in Riyadh, where he highlighted the unifying power of football. “Every panelist shared the sentiment that football is a magic instrument that immediately makes you smile and brings people and communities closer,” he shared on his Instagram account.

Saudi Arabia, which is set to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup, continues to strengthen its global sports partnerships as part of Vision 2030’s broader goals to promote physical activity and international collaboration.

In a separate meeting held on Monday, Infantino met with Prince Abdulaziz, Yasser Al-Misehal, and Adwa Al-Arifi, the assistant minister at the Ministry of Sport, to discuss how sports can further grow in the Kingdom.
