The Saudi Irrigation Organization has launched the 2025 National Greening Season in Al-Ahsa’s Al-Asfar National Forest and Park under the slogan A hand plants, a land flourishes. The initiative aims to plant 100,000 trees of this season as part of ongoing efforts to achieve the national target of 2 million trees by 2030.
Al-Asfar Park was selected as the starting point for the campaign due to its role as one of the organization’s most main prominent environmental projects. The park is spans about 21 million square meters and already boasts more than 600,000 trees planted under the organization’s management.
The project uses treated water for irrigation and the incorporates eco-friendly infrastructure, including 542 solar panels generating up to 200 kilowatts, storage tanks with a 7,500-cubic-meter capacity, and irrigation networks stretching over 682,000 linear meters.
By expanding green coverage and improving biodiversity the initiative supports Saudi Arabia’s broader environmental goals to enhances public awareness, promotes volunteer participation, and advances sustainable resource management to improve quality of life across the Kingdom.
