Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Yamahi has welcomed the UN General Assembly’s recent adoption of several resolutions backing Palestinian rights, describing the broad international support as a reaffirmation of global commitment to justice and international law.
According to the Jordan News Agency, the resolutions reaffirm the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital. Member states also voted to extend the mandate of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, ensuring continued delivery of vital humanitarian services to millions across the region.
Al-Yamahi said the strong support from member nations reflects the international community’s rejection of the Israeli occupation’s “illegal measures,” including annexation, settlement expansion, and forced displacement. He expressed appreciation to countries that stood by the Palestinian cause and supported their legitimate rights.
He added that the resolutions mark a significant step toward ending the aggression in Gaza and achieving a just, comprehensive peace in accordance with UN resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, underscoring the Arab Parliament’s ongoing diplomatic efforts in this regard.
