LONDON: The Military Order of Oman (Second Class) was awarded to Lt. Gen. Turki bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, the commander of the Royal Saudi Air Force, on Wednesday in appreciation of his efforts and contributions to enhancing military cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Oman.
When the Saudi Air Force commander visited Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al-Said, the deputy prime minister for defense affairs, in his office at Al-Murtafa’a Camp in Muscat, he gave the order. According to the Oman News Agency, Lt. Gen. Abdulaziz received the instruction from Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman.
The ceremony was attended by a number of Omani officials, including Air Vice Marshal Khamis bin Hammad Al-Ghafri, the Commander of the Royal Air Force of Oman. Ibrahim bin Saad bin Bishan, the Saudi Arabian ambassador to Oman, and the military attaché from the Saudi Embassy in Muscat were also in attendance. Lt. Gen. Abdulaziz and his Omani colleague Al-Ghafri met separately on Wednesday to talk about military cooperation, training, and drills between the two air forces.
