AL-AHSA: The Al-Bisht Al-Hasawi Festival in Al-Ahsa offers a cultural immersion experience that honours the Kingdom’s traditional bisht craft. The event, which will be held at the historic Ibrahim Palace until February 7, will include a bisht exhibition, a rare bisht gallery, a handcrafts zone, and workshops conducted by expert artisans.
The Heritage Commission is responsible for organising the event, which also features international pavilions that emphasise the bisht’s importance in Arab cultures. The festival’s essence is encapsulated by the narrative of the “Golden Threads” (Al-Zari), which are intricate gold-plated silver threads that establish the bisht’s character and prestige.
In the Golden Threads VIP Area, visitors can observe master artisans demonstrating the complete bisht-making process at the Host’s Majlis, which provides a glimpse into the centuries-old craftsmanship of Al-Ahsa. There, they can discover them.
In collaboration with the Royal Institute of Traditional Arts, interactive workshops are conducted to enable participants to manipulate raw materials and produce contemporary items using authentic bisht threads. Additionally, a designated children’s area, The Little Host, introduces young visitors to traditional motifs and embroidery through shadow puppetry and play.
