On October 6, 2025, ICP released the updated income requirements. The rules require proof of kinship that fits the claimed relationship category. The category of friends includes non-relatives. The resident sponsor, not the visitor, is subject to each threshold. Before immigration authorities review the additional documentation, income evidence establishes the sponsor’s eligibility.
