Germany Orders Global Recall of BMW Vehicles: What Owners Need to Know

The KBA transport regulator announced on Friday that Germany’s BMW must recall more than 330,000 automobiles worldwide because of worries about a fire risk. This is the brand’s second recall in less than a month.

According to the KBA, the safety issue affects over 337,000 cars, 29,000 of which are in Germany and include five distinct models. The problem is with the dashboard wiring being routed incorrectly.

The regulator’s website says that the recall affects the i5, 5, M5, i7, and 7 cars made between June 2022 and December 2025. It also said that there have been no reports of any incidents related to this safety risk thus far.

A BMW representative told AFP that the numbers for the Germany recall were correct, but they couldn’t confirm the KBA’s foreign numbers. BMW stated earlier this month that it would recall hundreds of thousands of cars around the world because there is a chance that the engine starters might start a fire. In late 2024, BMW had to lower its forecast for the year after recalling 1.5 million cars due to a faulty brake system.
