In one of its largest smart city projects to date, Dubai has launched an AI-powered virtual duplicate of the emirate that digitally recreates over 195,000 buildings, 280,000 infrastructure assets, and 330,000 public facilities. As Dubai continues to strive to become one of the world’s top digital cities, the new Dubai Digital Twin Platform is intended to assist government agencies in simulating future scenarios, enhancing urban planning, managing infrastructure more effectively, and supporting quicker, data-driven decision-making.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, attended the unveiling of the platform during the ‘Partners in Building the Digital Twin’ workshop held by Dubai Municipality.
Government organizations can use the integrated platform to analyze data, model future situations, and assist with planning in a variety of areas, such as infrastructure, asset management, urban development, and rainfall simulation. According to Dubai Municipality, the project embodies the emirate’s goal of utilizing cutting-edge data and technologies to create a smarter, more sustainable city while enhancing service effectiveness and quality of life.
