GCC Power and Water Convergence is a Strategic Goal, According to Secretary-General Albudaiwi

MANAMA: On Monday, the 31st meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council Electricity and Water Cooperation Committee took place in Manama. The meeting was presided over by Yaser bin Ebrahim Humaidan, the Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs for Bahrain. Member states of the GCC, including Saudi Arabia, attended the conference.

In a statement, the General Secretariat’s Secretary-General, Jasem Albudaiwi, said the water and electricity sectors are a strategic priority and a cornerstone of cooperative GCC action. In addition, he emphasised the significance of water security and emergency preparedness, as well as the opportunity to investigate multilateral water interconnection projects in order to increase the Gulf region’s resilience.

Bahrain is now serving as the GCC committee’s president, and the meeting was held at that time. In a statement, the General Secretariat said GCC Secretary-General Jasem Albudaiwi said the water and electricity sectors are a strategic priority and a cornerstone of joint GCC action. Bahrain’s Minister for Electricity and Water Affairs presided over a meeting of the GCC Electricity and Water Cooperation Committee on Monday in Manama.
