RIYADH: Beijing and Saudi Arabia will have even better air connectivity on April 16 when China Southern Airlines’ first flight lands in Riyadh.
As per Al-Ekhbariya Channel, the Chinese aircraft reached King Khalid International Airport at night with a load factor of 86 percent, carrying about 247 passengers.
China Southern Airlines has been granted permission by the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation to operate frequent weekly passenger and freight flights from Beijing, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen to Riyadh in the summer of 2024. This announcement was made earlier.
The CEO of Riyadh Airport Co., Ayman Aboabah, told the media outlet that the new route would see up to 90% utilization during peak seasons. He underlined that this shows a strong desire for the revised section.
Aboabah added that preparations are underway to draw in three or four more carriers in the upcoming year and that a second station is expected to operate by June. The CEO said, “We are incredibly proud to announce the first Chinese airline’s return to the Kingdom. With two weekly flights, 1,140 passengers will be transported between China and Saudi Arabia.” This is the first of many carriers with whom we will be working under the Air Connectivity Program and with the Chinese.
