Multiple Israeli attacks have killed at least four people in southern Lebanon’s Nabatieh governorate, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA), despite a cease-fire and a recent agreement between the US and Iran to halt the conflict on all fronts.
Separate drone attacks targeted two vehicles in Mayfadoun on Tuesday, resulting in the fatality. The agency reported that a third car was targeted in the area of Shoukin. Throughout the frequently tense negotiations between Iran and the US, Iranian officials consistently stated that any cease-fire agreement must include a stop to Israeli attacks on Lebanon.
While the actual wording of the memorandum of understanding has not yet been made public, Pakistan’s prime minister, who is serving as one of the conflict’s mediators, stated on Monday that the accord called for an immediate halt to military operations “on all fronts, including Lebanon”.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated on Tuesday that Israel’s continuing occupancy of southern Lebanon will breach the agreement, adding that “without the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the territories they occupied during this war, the war has not fully come to an end.” Iran’s Joint Military Command, Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, warned Israel of a harsh response if it continued its attacks on southern Lebanon.
