How Riyadh Air Is Transforming Global Air Travel with Its European Growth

RIYADH: According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Riyadh Air began operating its first nonstop trip to Madrid on Friday, broadening its European reach to strengthen commercial and tourism relations between Saudi Arabia and Spain.

Following the landing of flight RX0531 at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, Tony Douglas, CEO of Riyadh Air, Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, CEO of Atlético de Madrid, and senior executives from both enterprises attended a reception. Riyadh Air’s sports partner is Atletico Madrid.

The Saudi national carrier and Spanish airline Air Europa inked a strategic memorandum of collaboration at the same time as the debut. The deal creates a framework for codeshares, interline connection, and coordinated loyalty programs throughout Air Europa’s network in Spain, Southern Europe, and Latin America, pending regulatory approvals.

Seasonal flights to Málaga begin on July 14 and continue until September 8 on the Madrid route. To achieve the goals of Vision 2030, both routes were created in collaboration with the Saudi Air Connectivity Program.

The estimated 250 Spanish businesses that operate in the Kingdom will benefit from the new connection, according to SPA. Additionally, it solidifies Riyadh Air’s position in Spanish sports, where it owns the naming rights to the Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium and is the main sponsor of the men’s and women’s teams of Atletico Madrid.
