In Makkah, a Saudi AI Head Examines Crowd Control Technology

RIYADH: According to the Saudi Press Agency, Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, president of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority, visited Makkah’s Grand Mosque Operations Centre. Along with a number of security officials and Saudi programmers from the authority working at the centre, he met Lt. Gen. Mohammed Al-Bassami, the director of Public Security and head of the Hajj Security Committee.

The Baseer platform, which was created by the authority in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, represented by Public Security, was examined by Al-Ghamdi.To provide efficient crowd control and help find missing people, the platform tracks and analyses visitor movement at the Grand Mosque using computer vision and artificial intelligence. He also went over the Sawaher platform, which was created to improve the Grand Mosque’s security and provide a smart, safe space that makes it easier for worshippers and Umrah performers to carry out their rites with ease.

Al-Ghamdi also went to the Highway Security Centre in Al-Shumaisi, where he received an overview of the Banan device, which uses biometric features to improve identification verification. He watched the center’s activities, the command centre, and the Saudi Lucid vehicle’s cutting-edge, AI-tool-equipped equipment.
