During the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, which took place on Saturday in New York City, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jasem Al-Budaiwi, met with Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations.
According to the General Secretariat, the two officials discussed measures to improve collaboration in areas of mutual interest and reviewed the relations between the United Nations and the Gulf Cooperation Council They also discussed the latest geopolitical developments and regional challenges, as well as the diplomatic efforts underway to address these difficulties.
The strikes that were carried out by Houthis against Saudi Arabia and the targeting of people were condemned by both parties, with the emphasis being placed on the danger that these acts posed to the peace and security of the area.
As well as the efforts that GCC member states have made to the promotion of global stability, Guterres praised the growth and prosperity that these governments have attained. In addition to discussing measures to increase collaboration in areas of shared interest, the two officials examined the relations between the GCC and the United Nations.
