In Turkey, the Royal Saudi Air Force Participates in a Search and Rescue Exercise

RIYADH: The Royal Saudi Air Force joined forces from multiple other nations at Turkiye’s Konya Air Base on Monday for the start of the multinational combat search and rescue exercise known as Phoenix of Anatolia.

The Saudi delegation is led by Lt. Col. Pilot Abdulrahman Al-Mansour, who said the Saudi team provided two Cougar search and rescue helicopters, complete aircrews, and technical support.  According to Al-Mansour, “our team, which consists of six air controllers, aims to improve readiness in realistic conditions while exchanging expertise with other forces.

Combat search and rescue operations that support larger aviation missions are the main emphasis of the 11-day exercise. On Tuesday, the Saudi Press Agency said that one priority is preparing tactical air control teams to communicate with allied systems. The Kingdom’s military attaché in Ankara, Rear Adm. Abdullah bin Gaith, welcomed the Saudi team when it arrived last week.

At Konya Air Base in Turkiye, the RSAF participated in the international combat search and rescue exercise Phoenix of Anatolia alongside forces from many other nations.
