Saudi Arabia Assesses Global Economy as Economic Council Examines Q2 Budget

RIYADH: The Council of Economic and Development Affairs had a meeting via video conference to go over the monthly report of the Ministry of Economy and Planning. The report covered the main trends and difficulties facing the global economy, its growth prospects in light of geopolitical developments, and the possible effects of that on the national economy, Saudi Press Agency reported. The paper also emphasized the possible benefits of current economic developments in increasing the competitiveness of the national economy, supporting the Kingdom’s economic growth journey and enhancing its ability to keep pace with the changes happening in the world.

The council also reviewed a report from the Ministry of Finance on the performance of the national budget for the second quarter of the 2026 fiscal year. The briefing focused key indicators of financial performance including revenues, expenditures and the level of public debt.The report said this showed Saudi Arabia’s ability to efficiently and flexibly manage its public finances despite the current global economic and geopolitical upheavals.

The report also highlighted the strength of the nation’s financial position and the continued diversification of its economic base. It also referred to the proactive fiscal policies that were adopted and had sustained economic and social development, promoted the strategic objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and supported the medium and long-term financial stability.
