JEDDAH: The Ministry of Commerce said the number of commercial registrations for artificial intelligence activities in Saudi Arabia has increased by 31 percent since 2025 to 24,552, reflecting the rapid growth of technology-driven firms in the Kingdom.
The government said the expansion was due to the increase in computer programming, information and communications operations. It reported that 192,000 commercial registrations had been issued since the beginning of 2026 as of September.
“Logistics services grew 25 percent with 32,154 registrations and creative activities, arts and entertainment also grew 25 percent with 8,650 commercial registrations,” the Ministry of Commerce said. Commercial registrations in the electronic games business surged by 24 percent to 977, while cybersecurity registrations rose by 22 percent to 11,275, the ministry said in a statement.The Kingdom has designated 2026 as the Year of Artificial Intelligence, and the project aims to align national efforts to fast-track the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) technology and encourage the development of a data- and AI-driven economy.
The initiative is supported by Humain, a Public Investment Fund firm founded in May 2025 to create and operate sophisticated artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and infrastructure, unlock human potential, and uncover opportunities in the digital economy.
