To Strengthen Judicial Connections, Saudi Arabia and Japan Sign an MOU

RIYADH: During an official visit to the East Asian nation, Saudi Arabia’s Justice Minister Walid Al-Samaani met with his Japanese colleague Keisuke Suzuki. The Saudi Press Agency said on Wednesday that the ministers talked about ways to improve the two nations’ judicial relations.

Al-Samaani examined recent advancements in Saudi Arabia’s legal and judicial systems, which are backed by King Salman and supervised by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. He focused in particular on specialised laws meant to guarantee swift justice.

He emphasised many significant developments, such as the posting of court decisions and the promotion of transparency through the audio and video recording of both in-person and virtual court sessions. He also highlighted initiatives to make contracts legally binding to activate the preventative justice system, according to SPA.

Suzuki and Al-Samaani signed a memorandum of agreement on the sidelines to improve judicial cooperation, including information and knowledge sharing, legislation, capacity building, and conflict settlement. Ministers sign memorandums of understanding to improve collaboration in the legal sector. Walid Al-Samaani examined current advancements in Saudi Arabia’s legal and judicial systems.
