RIYADH: King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah has received the first pilgrimage planes from the Syrian Arab Republic for the 2025 Hajj season. This Hajj season is the first since a new administration led by President Ahmad Al-Sharaa was put in place in January, ushering in a new era of ties between Syria and Saudi Arabia, and the second after pilgrimage for Syrians returned in 2024 after a 12-year break.

The Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to ensure pilgrims have a safe journey were reflected in the orderly and trouble-free completion of all entrance processes, according to the Saudi Press Agency. By providing cutting-edge technology at entrance points and employing multilingual staff to help pilgrims from all over the world, the General Directorate of Passports has simplified admission processes.

The directorate has reiterated that it is ready to assist pilgrims in arriving at all seaports, land border crossings, and international airports in the Kingdom. Additionally, it has emphasised that it is collaborating with all pertinent Kingdom agencies to ensure a seamless and respectable pilgrimage for everyone.
