Trump Finds it Difficult to Fulfil his Pledges to Swiftly Stop the Hostilities in Gaza and Ukraine

WASHINGTON: President Donald Trump stated unequivocally that he will establish enduring peace from the catastrophic 18-month warfare in Gaza and put an end to Russia’s war in Ukraine within the first 24 hours of his new government before his second term in office.

However, the Republican president is struggling to fulfil two of his most important foreign policy campaign pledges as he approaches the 100th day of his second term, and he is not responding well to hints that he is not meeting expectations. Additionally, Trump is attempting to stop Tehran’s quickly developing nuclear program through diplomacy after scolding President Joe Biden during the previous year’s campaign for stopping Israel from launching strikes on Iranian nuclear installations.

Three years have passed since the conflict began. “What’s taken so long?” you ask me, having just arrived. In an interview with Time magazine discussing his first 100 days, Trump became agitated when questioned about the situation in Ukraine. Regarding the war in Gaza, he maintained that it “would have never happened.” Never. “What’s taking so long?” you ask.

Washington has a long-standing, albeit arbitrary, custom of evaluating US presidents based on their first 100 days in office. Furthermore, it usually takes years, rather than weeks, to mediate peace agreements between warring parties that are unwinnable.
