RIYADH: In an effort to promote international collaboration on wetland conservation, Musonda Mumba, the secretary-general of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, paid a visit to the Farasan Islands Protected Area.
The islands, one of the Kingdom’s most well-known convention locations, are essential to biodiversity conservation and sustainable development. Field trips were part of the visit, and the National Center for Wildlife presented on the national wetland conservation roadmap, emphasizing how the islands support endangered species and migratory birds.
The Farasan Islands, a group of more than 170 ecologically varied islands with substantial heritage value, are situated in the southern Red Sea.
Saudi Arabia’s dedication to tackling environmental issues, such as climate change, is demonstrated by its ratification of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands.
