RIYADH: The Saudi Press Agency said Monday that sales at the inaugural Al-Kharj Festival of Saudi Dates and Coffee had surpassed SR10 million ($2.6 million). Special deals, the impending holy month of Ramadan, and access to specialised marketplaces with daily promotions all attracted tourists to Saudi Arabia for coffee and dates.
According to the SPA, 30 businesses and stores selling over 26 types of dates and other goods participated in the 10-day celebration. Furthermore, two to three tonnes of the brew were sold every day by 20 coffee shops, with sales rising to about five tonnes on weekends.
According to the SPA, the festival, sponsored by several government agencies and establishments in the province, highlighted how significant these two goods are to Saudi Arabian culture.
Local coffee is an essential component of the national character, signifying generosity and social authenticity. At the same time, dates symbolise the Kingdom’s agricultural past and its position as one of the world’s top producers and exporters.
According to Abdulaziz Al-Sharif, head of the festival’s organising committee, the occasion gave specialised and small and medium-sized businesses a chance to exhibit their goods and reach a larger audience.
