Tata Electronics Faces Cybersecurity Crisis Amid Claims of Exposed Apple and Tesla Secrets

Tata Electronics announced on Monday that it had discovered a recent “cybersecurity incident” following reports from researchers that World Leaks had published alleged component design and specification documents from Apple and Tesla, two of the Indian company’s clients.

Tata Electronics discovered a cybersecurity issue on a couple of our systems a few weeks ago. In a statement to Reuters, Tata Electronics said, “Our response protocols were immediately implemented, and the incident has had no impact on our operations across businesses, which remain unaffected.” A source acquainted with the situation stated that Tata had received a ransom demand relating to the incident and that Apple was looking into the breach and that a “full analysis was going on.”

Requests for comment were not answered by Apple. Regarding the ransom demand, Tata Electronics refuses to respond. According to Reuters, the breach is the most recent setback for Apple’s supply chain in India, where Tata is under investigation for allegedly contaminating farmlands close to one of its iPhone parts plants.
