Israeli Warnings of Iran Threats Against Trump Remain Unverified by US

Over the past year, Israel warned the US that Iran planned to assassinate President Donald Trump, including a covert air force. According to one current and two former US officials, there was one ploy in Turkey that US intelligence authorities were unable to independently verify.

According to the sources, the warnings were sent to US intelligence agencies and, in some cases, directly communicated by Israeli officials to senior White House officials. They included hypothetical schemes to shoot Trump with a sniper or recruit someone to attack him with a knife during a huge public event.

The tips began in the run-up to the 12-day conflict in June 2025 and accelerated before to the United States’ decision to go to war with Iran in February, according to sources. The most explicit warning was issued ahead of the NATO meeting in Ankara in July, according to a US official and another person familiar with the subject.

Israeli sources warned the White House that Iran could deploy a shoulder-launched missile to target Trump on his Air Force One flight to the summit.

The US intelligence community believes Iran plans to respond for Trump’s execution of Iranian military commander Qassem Soleimani in 2020. However, the Central Intelligence Agency has been unable to substantiate some of the specific threats to Trump’s life shared by Israeli intelligence since early last year, according to officials.
