RIYADH: The Arab League Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organization has become a crucial foundation of coordinated Arab activity amid growing difficulties and overlapping crises throughout the Arab world. Since its founding on July 25, 1970, ALECSO has supported regional development and strived to protect Arab identity.
Since 2021, Saudi Arabia has led the council for three consecutive terms. According to Hani Al-Moqbel, chairman of ALECSO’s executive council, during those five years, the organization has increased its efforts to promote scientific innovation, protect the cultural diversity of the Arab world, and strengthen education policies. It has also pursued institutional reforms and expanded international partnerships in support of its strategic objectives.
Al-Moqbel told Arab News in an exclusive interview that the Kingdom’s three terms in a row demonstrate the trust that Arab nations have in the nation. He emphasised that the first term set the stage for further advancements.
“The Kingdom promoted a cooperative strategy during that time, making all member states participants in the advancements made. According to him, this aided in the executive council’s transition to more developed institutional procedures and long-term strategic change.
