RIYADH: During the 10th Regional Forum of the International Union for Conservation of Nature for West Asia, which was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, Abdulrahman Al-Fadhli, celebrated the country’s unparalleled environmental achievements.
More than two hundred experts from West Asia and regional authorities attended the event, which was organized by Saudi Arabia through the National Centre for Wildlife and took place from September 9 to 11. Al-Fadhli emphasised the Kingdom’s environmental achievements during a panel discussion. These accomplishments are driven by a national vision that views the environmental sector as essential to sustainable development, both locally and globally.
The speaker acknowledged the implementation of the National Environment Strategy as a framework for direction and outlined several efforts, such as those introduced at the G20 Riyadh Summit, with the objectives of preserving biodiversity, halting land degradation, and promoting worldwide research on coral reefs.
In addition, the minister highlighted the Middle East Green Initiative, the Saudi Green Initiative, and initiatives to stop overgrazing, to preserve thirty percent of the Kingdom’s land and marine areas by 2030.
