Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah is Appointed Prime Minister by the King of Kuwait

The new prime minister is also tasked with forming a cabinet by the Kuwaiti Emir. DUBAI: Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah has been named prime minister by Kuwait’s Emir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, according to a Monday report from the official news agency KUNA.

Forming a government was another responsibility assigned to the new prime minister by Kuwait’s monarch. Following elections to select new members of the National Assembly, Kuwait’s ruler last week accepted Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah’s resignation.Prince Sheikh Ahmad was tasked with forming a government and submitting the names of the ministers for appointment by the Amir via an Amiri Order.

After the order was published in the official gazette, His Highness the Amir instructed the Prime Minister to notify the National Assembly. (KUNA) He also gave the cabinet the directive to serve as guardianship until a new administration was established.According to Bader Al Saif, an assistant professor of history at Kuwait University, a long-standing popular demand has been for Dr. Mohammed to return to government.
