At Robocon 2025, Saudi Students Showcase Their Robotic Innovations

RIYADH: From Tuesday to Thursday, the King Abdulaziz University Robocon 2025 took place at the King Faisal Convention Centre, where Saudi students showcased their robotic creations, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

The event, organised by the university’s Deanship of Student Affairs, attracted student innovators, investors, and IT businesses.

Samar Awad Al-Rabi, a Saudi student from King Abdulaziz University’s Faculty of Medical Rehabilitation Sciences, demonstrated a clever temperature-monitoring gadget designed to shield delicate spaces from abrupt temperature fluctuations.

Taibah University’s Rania Al-Mukhtar Al-Sheikh demonstrated a novel cure for dry macular degeneration, a vision-impairing condition. To restore or enhance eyesight, the gadget heals and repairs injured cells, lowers inflammation, and increases blood flow without endangering healthy tissues. Various qualitative contests were part of the exhibition events, such as the first engineering competition centred on drone technology, called “Saqr. Robots competed on a small football surface in another tournament called the Robocup.

The Innovtech Hackathon, a coding competition with four primary tracks centred on technology in the fields of education, tourism, manufacturing, and finance, was also introduced during the event.

One panel discussion, Turning Point: Transforming Tech Ideas into Successful Projects, examined how to commercialise technological breakthroughs and examined the ways in which robots might impact society.
