We recently had the privilege of interviewing Dr. Shaymaa Abdel Nabi, Founder and CEO of Dr. Beauty Care. Dr. Shaymaa specializes in skincare, supplement, and hair care solutions, and offers innovative products and services tailored to enhance beauty from within with her brand.

Shaymaa’s company also provides a selection of supplements designed to support overall wellness and beauty from the inside out. In this interview, Dr. Shaymaa shares her career trajectory, and challenges in this field with solutions to overcome the same, and offers valuable suggestions for aspiring professionals.

The Beginning

We started the interview by asking, “What initially drew you to your field, and how did your early experiences shape your approach to business?”

Dr. Shaymaa Abdel Nabi shared, “I have a strong foundation in medical science, with a focus on hematology, physiology, and biochemistry, which has greatly influenced my approach to health and beauty. After working in various sectors, I took a break to obtain my professional license, which led me to a position as the Dubai branch manager of a cosmetics company. This role allowed me to develop a deep understanding of the beauty industry and its demands.

Unfortunately, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the company had to close. However, during this challenging time, I received interest from clients who had used our products and were eager to continue. Recognizing this demand, I took the initiative to open my own business by obtaining a license in a UAE free zone. From there, I began building my brand by networking through meetings and events, sharing my passion for beauty and wellness, and discussing the benefits of the products I offer. This journey has not only strengthened my entrepreneurial skills but also reinforced my commitment to providing solutions that are backed by both science and customer needs.”

Genesis Of The Business

We wanted to learn more about the unmet market gaps that Dr. Shaymaa Abdel Nabi’s business focuses on. So, we asked, “Can you tell us about the genesis of your current business and what specific need or gap you aimed to address?”

Dr. Shaymaa Abdel Nabi replied, “Increasing our customer base through effective marketing strategies is a critical aspect of DR Beauty Care’s mission. Given that, every action we take involves significant costs, so we focus on strategic investments to maximize our reach and impact.”

Personal Values In Action

We further asked, “How have your values influenced the way you conduct business?”

“My values of maintaining strong relationships and providing consistent quality are central to how I run my business. I believe in nurturing positive customer interactions, whether through face-to-face meetings or networking events. It’s incredibly fulfilling when a returning customer says, “We need your product,” showing loyalty and trust in what I offer. It’s moments like these that remind me of the impact my products have, and I feel equally committed to meeting their expectations.

I also take great pride in being remembered by customers for my products when I meet with them. Their recognition reinforces the value of the personalized care and quality I put into my business.” Shaymaa added.

Adaptability Amidst Adversities

To learn how Dr. Shaymaa Abdel Nabi addressed the challenges in his business, we asked, “What has been the most challenging project or period in your career, and what did you learn from it?”

Dr. Shaymaa Abdel Nabi replied, “Like every other business, I too faced certain challenges in its operations that left me some important lessons. Firstly, develop strong interpersonal skills to manage difficult clients. Stay calm, listen actively, and find solutions to ensure a positive experience.

Moreover, overcoming competition requires staying updated with industry trends, continuous learning, and offering unique services that set you apart. And, maintaining high client satisfaction involves effective communication, understanding client needs, and addressing concerns promptly.”

Embracing Innovation

Eager to learn how Shaymaa adapts her business to the latest market trends and technologies, we inquired, “How do you integrate new technologies or innovative practices into your business operations?”

Since no two clients are the same, AI/ML technology may provide product recommendations such as precise product matches for skin and hair types as well as guidance on natural goods. Additionally, we are using smart technology in beauty clinics, spas, and salons to measure complex skin and hair issues and offer smart solutions.

Furthermore, the latest cutting-edge CRM systems employ AI/ML methods to enable real-time order placement assistance and intelligent product searches.” She responded.

A Strategic Shift: Expanding Dr. Beauty Care

We asked, “Could you share an experience where you had to pivot your business strategy dramatically?”

Dr. Shaymaa Abdel Nabi said, “As the founder of Dr. Beauty Care, I encountered a pivotal moment when our initial strategy to solely focus on direct-to-consumer sales wasn’t gaining the traction we had anticipated. We realized that the market was saturated, and standing out required a different approach.

After careful analysis and feedback from our customers, we decided to pivot towards a hybrid model, integrating both direct-to-consumer sales and partnerships with local beauty clinics, spas, and beauty salons. This allowed us to tap into an existing customer base while also offering our products in physical locations where customers could experience them firsthand.

This strategic shift not only expanded our reach but also provided valuable insights into consumer preferences and behavior. It was a challenging transition, but ultimately it positioned Dr. Beauty Care for greater success in the competitive beauty industry.”

Sharing Knowledge And Success

Mentorship has a profound impact on shaping personal growth. To learn more about Dr. Shaymaa Abdel Nabi’s perspective on this aspect, we asked, “What role has mentorship played in your career, both as a mentor and a mentee?”

Mentorship has been crucial in both roles. As a mentor, I’ve been able to share my experiences and knowledge with others, helping them navigate the challenges of entrepreneurship and the beauty industry. As a mentee, I’ve sought guidance from seasoned professionals who have provided invaluable insights and advice, helping me make informed decisions and avoid common pitfalls. All things considered, mentoring has greatly aided in my professional and personal development and has shaped the future of Dr. Beauty Care.” She added.

Plans We Asked Dr. Shaymaa

To learn about the plans Shaymaa has set for her business, we asked, “Tell us more about your future business plans?”

Dr. Shaymaa Abdel Nabi replied, “I aim to establish my brand in hair care, skincare, and supplements. Plans include opening physical locations for Dr. Beauty Care, such as stores or beauty clinics, and expanding our product line to offer a variety of skincare and beauty solutions. Strengthening our online presence through digital marketing and e-commerce is a priority to reach a wider global audience.

Building partnerships with influencers, beauty professionals, and retail outlets will help increase brand visibility and accessibility. Sustainability and social responsibility are important aspects of our business model, with a focus on reducing environmental impact and supporting communities through ethical sourcing and charitable contributions.

Overall, my vision for Dr Beauty Care is to become a trusted and innovative leader in the beauty industry, providing high-quality products and exceptional experiences that empower individuals to look and feel their best.”

Lastly, seeking guidance for beginners in the beauty care industry, we asked, “What is one piece of advice you would give to someone starting in your industry today?”

Shaymaa concluded, “One piece of advice I’d give to someone starting in the beauty care industry today is to prioritize building authentic relationships. Whether it’s with suppliers, customers, or fellow professionals, fostering genuine connections can open doors, provide valuable insights, and help sustain your business in the long run.”
