RIYADH: To improve economic and social policy planning with an emphasis on sustainable development, the Saudi Ministry of Economy and Planning has partnered with the UN Development Programme. In order to further the Kingdom’s efforts under Vision 2030, Hattan Bin Samman, general supervisor for foreign organizations at the Ministry of Economy and Planning, and Nahid Hussein, UNDP resident representative for Saudi Arabia, signed the agreement.
According to a news release, the collaboration will help the Kingdom’s continued commitment to fulfilling its social and economic goals by strengthening national policy development and fostering the sharing of knowledge in sustainable development.
“This cooperation is part of the Kingdom’s commitment to achieving its national aspirations under Saudi Vision 2030, which helps to develop national policies and strengthen institutional competencies, as well as to promoting sustainable economic and social development,” the release continued.
Key officials such as UNDP administrator Achim Steiner, Economy and Planning Minister Faisal Al-Ibrahim, and Vice Minister of Economy and Planning Ammar Nagadi attended the signing ceremony, which also highlighted the importance of cooperation in enhancing institutional capabilities and promoting national accomplishments internationally. As part of its long-term strategy, this program further demonstrates Saudi Arabia’s dedication to sustainable economic growth and development. Additionally, Riyadh is hosting COP16, which highlights the value of international cooperation in tackling global issues and strengthens the Kingdom’s leadership in sustainable development.
