Perplexity, an AI company, plans to go public in 2028 regardless of how the market takes to the listings of Anthropic and OpenAI, CNBC said Monday citing an interview with CEO Aravind Srinivas. But we are agnostic about these two companies, we are planning for 2028, so it still remains the case,” Srinivas told CNBC in an interview.
Anthropic last week filed for a U.S. IPO and OpenAI confidentially filed for a U.S. IPO earlier on Monday. Elon Musk’s rocket company, SpaceX, also plans to go public on Friday. I think there will be ripple repercussions if they don’t go well, no sugar coating it. “This week’s SpaceX IPO will definitely be a leading indicator of how Anthropic or OpenAI will go out,” Srinivas told CNBC.
“I think it is important for the AI industry that these IPOs go well and I actually think they will go well because they are doing well,” Srinivas added. Having 2028 as the earliest date for an IPO has helped Perplexity build a healthy, high-growth business,” said Chief Business Officer Dmitry Shevelenko said in a statement sent to Reuters.
