Among the Main Factors Driving Investment are Supply Chain Reforms and Demographic Changes: Al-Falih

RIYADH: At a Riyadh event, Saudi Arabia’s investment minister stated that supply chain decentralization, sustainability, and technology disruption are changing the nature of international investment. Khalid Al-Falih said during the 28th World Investment Conference in Riyadh that although the world economy is overcoming obstacles, problems like geopolitical tensions still lead to instability.

With an emphasis on digital transformation and sustainable growth, WIC 2024, which takes place from November 25 to 27, brings together world leaders to talk about investment strategies that will shape economies in the future. Speaking to the audience, Al-Falih stated: “The global investment landscape will be significantly shaped by four key themes. The first is the significance of making investments in sustainable development. The second is the extraordinary technological upheaval that is happening right before our eyes.

“With the decentralization of supply chains establishing hubs in developing regions that offer new opportunities for investments, infrastructure, and new production capacity, the third global trend is the steady reconfiguration of the global supply chain,” he continued. The minister claims that the fourth worldwide trend is demography, wherein organizations will make investments in areas with high consumption and skill availability.

Al-Falih highlighted advancements in inflation control, capital market expansion, and the recovery of consumer confidence while acknowledging both potential and difficulties for international investment, citing problems including trade obstacles and geopolitical uncertainty.
