RIYADH: On June 2, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development and the Royal Commission for Riyadh City launched a flexible work schedule program in six Riyadh work zones. According to a joint statement from the two organizations, the program is a part of initiatives “to enhance mobility efficiency in the capital, support traffic flow, and improve quality of life.”
Extending the flexible window to four hours improved mental efficiency and productivity, according to two experts who spoke with Arab News. However, they emphasized that for it to be successful, a fundamental shift toward results-based evaluation was necessary, along with leadership training and the designation of core working hours to ensure ongoing collaboration.
By extending the flexible hours window to four hours, permitting staggered arrival and departure times, and lowering traffic concentration during peak hours, the initiative benefits over fifty entities in six work zones (KAFD, Digital City, Diplomatic Quarter, Laysen Valley, Granada Business, and ROSHN Front).
The initiative is anticipated to give workers more freedom to choose their arrival times, which will improve transportation efficiency, enhance the work experience, and aid in creating a more sustainable and effective urban environment, according to the statement.
