Why Ceasefire Efforts Continue to Collapse in Gaza

GAZA CITY: According to Gaza’s civil defense service and hospitals, Israeli attacks killed at least six people on Sunday, the latest violence to strike the Palestinian enclave despite a months-long calm. Israel and Hamas trade near-daily claims of truce violations, and the Gaza Strip remains engulfed in slaughter while progress toward finally ending the war is halted.

An Israeli airstrike on the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza killed four people and injured several more, according to the civil defense agency, which operates under Hamas administration. Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza reported receiving four bodies and treating five injured people as a result of the strike.

The civil defense claimed two more civilians were killed by Israeli gunfire in different instances in the southern Khan Yunis area. The Israeli military did not immediately respond to the occurrences.

At least 986 Palestinians have been murdered in Gaza since the ceasefire went into effect on October 10 last year, according to Gaza’s health ministry, which is run by Hamas and whose data are regarded reliable by the UN. The Israeli army recorded five deaths within the same time period.
